Summary
Nearly every society and culture has stories of "monsters, " beasts that are said to populate the remote regions, and whose existence is the subject of controversy. Some are familiar, like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Others, like mermaids, have been categorically dismissed. But some have been found. There are squid that reach lengths of 100 feet or more. The Komodo dragon, living on a remote island in Indonesia, has deadly saliva, a nasty disposition, and a bright orange tongue. Every time we move to dismiss a tale of some extraordinary beast, the stories of these unlikely leviathans should come to mind. Featuring controversial footage of legendary creatures and up-to-the-minute commentary from monster hunters and debunkers, this program examines the enduring tales of creatures like Bigfoot, the abominable snowman, and "Nessie, " as well as others that are not as familiar.
